We've covered why the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card should be in every traveler's wallet, and why the Marriott Bonvoy Bold Credit Card is a great alternative for anyone that can't stomach an annual fee, but both cards are even more rewarding than usual right now with two newly launched, limited time welcome offers.
Inboxlab has partnered with The Points Guy affiliate network for our coverage of credit card products. Inboxlab and The Points Guy may receive a commission from card issuers.
Here are the new offers for both cards, alongside the standard offers that you'd usually expect to see.
- 100,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first three months.
- Usually 75,000 points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first three months.
It's true that this limited time offer comes with a higher minimum spending requirement, but on the margin, you'll be receiving an extra 25,000 points for spending an additional $2,000, a rate of 12.5 bonus points per dollar (and 20 bonus points per dollar overall). That's well worth it; just be sure that you'll hit the $5,000 threshold, or else you won't receive any bonus points at all.
- 50,000 bonus points after spending $2,000 on purchases in the first three months.
- Usually 30,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 in the first three months.
Again, this bonus comes tied to a higher spending requirement, but at 20,000 extra points for only $1,000 in additional spend, you're still getting a marginal return of 20 bonus points per dollar, and 25 points per dollar overall!
Which to Get
For most travelers, the $95/year Bonvoy Boundless will more than pay for itself with its annual free night certificate alone, not to mention its higher earning rates (6x on purchases at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties, vs. the Bold's 3x). If you're confident that you'll spend $5,000 over the next three months, we think it's the card to get.
That said, if you aren't interested in a card with an annual fee attached, 50,000 points is a very lucrative sign-up bonus for the Bonvoy Bold, especially considering its lower minimum spending requirement. Those 50,000 points could get you multiple free nights at many Marriott properties, or even a free night at a high-end Category 6 hotel.
Whichever card you choose, if you've been on the fence about adding a Marriott Bonvoy card to your wallet, this is undoubtedly the time to apply.
